At PowerPay, possibility is not only about what financing can help people access. It is also about what people can accomplish when they come together around a shared purpose.
That belief is reflected in the partnership between PowerPay and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to changing the lives of children with cancer through research, awareness, family support, and hope.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation began with Alex Scott, a young girl with cancer who wanted to raise money to help other children facing the same diagnosis. What started as one neighborhood lemonade stand has grown into one of the nation’s leading childhood cancer organizations, funding life-changing research and supporting families throughout their journey.
For PowerPay, the partnership is especially meaningful. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is rooted in the Philadelphia region, just miles from PowerPay’s headquarters in Wayne, Pennsylvania. More importantly, its mission reflects the kind of human-first impact PowerPay believes businesses can create. That impact extends beyond customers and into the communities they serve.
Why PowerPay Partners with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
In June, PowerPay brought that partnership to life through Pour It Forward, a month-long employee campaign supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and PowerPay’s ALSF Hero Family.
Through Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a Hero Family is a family affected by childhood cancer whose story helps bring the mission to life. For PowerPay, that family was Emilia’s.
Throughout the month, employees learned more about childhood cancer. They also learned how ALSF funds research and supports families throughout treatment. Rather than simply raising awareness, the campaign helped employees understand why the mission matters. At the same time, employees found meaningful ways to participate.
How the PowerPay and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Partnership Came to Life
PowerPay designed Pour It Forward around simple opportunities to participate.
Employees shared daily ALSF facts, joined virtual activities, recorded Pour It Forward videos, wrote Hero Letters, participated in a walk/run challenge, and brought their own families into the effort.
- The ALSF Slack channel grew to 80 members.
- Employees shared 31 Pour It Forward videos, many featuring children and family members.
- Twenty-eight employees joined the walk/run challenge, logging 2,058.62 miles by the end of June.
However, the numbers tell only part of the story. The participation tells the rest.
Supporting Emilia and Her Family
One of the most meaningful moments of the month was Family Day at PowerPay HQ.
Employees welcomed Emilia, her sister Lynnea, and their dad to the office for games, Hero Letters, prizes, and time together. The day gave employees a chance to connect the larger ALSF mission to a real family in PowerPay’s community.
More importantly, it reminded the team what this partnership is really about: standing with children and families, supporting the research that can change outcomes, and showing up in ways that feel personal, practical, and real.
A Partnership Built on the Power of Possibility
Pour It Forward showed what can happen when people understand a mission and are given a clear way to be part of it.
Employees found many different ways to participate. Some walked. Others recorded videos. Many wrote Hero Letters. Several joined activities from home with their families, while others came together in person.
Individually, each action was simple. Together, those actions created momentum. That is the Power of Possibility in action.
PowerPay is proud to continue its partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and honored to stand alongside Emilia’s family as part of that mission. We are grateful to every employee and family member who helped Pour It Forward throughout June and contributed to a cause that continues to bring hope to children and families facing childhood cancer.
Looking Ahead
PowerPay’s partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation extends beyond a single campaign.
